MONTE ROSA CAFÉ | Zermatt, Switzerland | est.1839

400mm x 800mm | gouache & colored pencil

Artwork Story

The Monte Rosa is a hotel, located in the main street of Zermatt. It was frequented by the members of the Alpine Club, including Edward Whymper who made the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. The hotel is named after the highest mountain near Zermatt, Monte Rosa. This Artwork is my first approche to historic cafe collection, I was very pregnant with my second child and I finished it on Valentine’s day.

Artwork details

As the First piece of my street cafe collection I was very excited when I reached to the ferforje part of the building. The texture replication is the joy of this piece and I drew a little teapot behind the window for myself 😊.
